Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham
Back to all places
Welcome to Wat Khao Rang, a beautiful temple located on Rang Hill, Phuket. Founded by the famous monk Luang Pu Supha, this temple is a must-visit for those looking for a spiritual and cultural experience. While some may claim that Luang Pu Supha is the world’s oldest man, it’s important to note that this has not been confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records. However, you can find his image on amulets for sale at the temple, which can serve as a great souvenir to take home.
The temple grounds are divided into two areas. The original old building supports the sitting Buddha, with its back against the green hillside. This Buddha is a sight to behold and is a perfect spot for taking pictures and soaking in the spiritual atmosphere. The new temple is located next to the old building and is equally as beautiful. When you arrive at the temple, you will see the Naka snakes guarding the entrance. These mythical creatures are believed to protect the temple and its visitors, so don’t be alarmed.
It’s important to note that Wat Khao Rang is just one of the 30,000 Buddhist temples in Thailand. Many Thai people will spend Buddhist holidays around these beautiful structures, making them a vital part of the country’s cultural heritage. In addition to being a place of worship and celebration, these temples often house monks, schools, and act as gathering places for locals.
